SAFETY KNOWLEDGE
Safety works through relationships. I look for what crews are doing well, then coach the things that need improvement with a clear, respectful conversation.
I don’t pretend to have every answer. I know how to find the right information and work with the team to put it into practice.
Start with the work in front of us. Listen, observe how the job is being done, and recognize the practices that are helping the crew work safely.
Respect the experience of the people doing the work. Ask questions, give credit for good practices, and make safety a conversation the crew can take part in.
Discuss what needs to change and why. When a question needs more research or guidance, find the right information and bring it back to the team.
